We all know that e-waste if not disposed properly is a huge toxic threat to the environment. As a hub of electronic and related activities, ELCITA has been working on establishing a proper means of disposing e-waste, especially hazardous low-value E-waste.

We are working with Infoactiv to do a detailed study and come up with a framework and guideline on E-waste management for Electronics city. They have assessed the e-waste practices of member companies. We are now disseminating information through a member kit, also available on the ELCITA site.

We have also developed protocols for the auditing of recyclers. The second phase of the study has started, wherein we will also be doing the audit of e-waste recyclers and aggregators.

ELCITA will provide an NOC for recyclers who meet compliance and operation standards. These firms would be recommended to member companies. We also plan to help companies dispose their low value e-waste and set up a help desk for filing of e-waste returns and address queries on disposal.

We request all member companies to be part of the initiative so we can make e-city a model city with respect to both solid waste as well as e-waste management.
