Electronics City achieves IGBC Platinum Rating, becomes a Model Green City Township
Bengaluru, 05 June 2023 – The Township Authority is thrilled to announce its recent certification with the prestigious IGBC Platinum Rating as a Green City Township. This remarkable achievement solidifies the township’s commitment to sustainable practices, environmental stewardship, and the well-being of its residents.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is the country’s leading authority in promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly developments. The IGBC Platinum Rating is the highest honor bestowed upon cities and townships that meet stringent sustainability criteria, making Electronics City a true pioneer in the green revolution.

- Smart Energy Management: The township has implemented cutting-edge energy management systems, utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar panels and innovative energy-saving technologies. These efforts have significantly reduced the carbon footprint of the entire community.
- Water Conservation Measures: Through the implementation of rainwater harvesting systems, wastewater treatment plants, and efficient water distribution networks, the township has successfully conserved water resources and ensured sustainable usage across all sectors.
- Waste Management: ELCITA has put into operation a one-of-a-kind Sustainability Park consisting of a 1.6MLD STP and a 16 tons / day solid waste material recovery facility which will help meet its objectives of recycling sewage water and zero-waste to landfill.
- Green Spaces and Biodiversity Preservation: campuses within Electronics City Township boasts expansive green spaces, parks, and gardens that promote biodiversity and provide a harmonious connection with nature. These green areas not only enhance the visual appeal of the township but also contribute to improved air quality and overall well-being.
- Sustainable Transportation: The township’s comprehensive public and private transportation plan focuses on promoting mass travel and reducing vehicular emissions. The smart and sustainable bus stops offer commuters all conveniences including vending machines, digital information boards, CCTV cameras, solar power, rainwater harvesting and other features.

| GPR Survey | ELCITA is responsible for providing adequate infrastructure and facilities for Electronics City Citizens. The power and OFC (Optical Fiber Cable) lines serve as the primary lifelines of the electronic city. Any damage incurred during the execution of work would have catastrophic consequences and result in significant losses. Defects are graded from level 0 to 4, with color coding indicating the priority of stretches of roads requiring immediate attention. Based on the analysis, road rectification plans can be formulated.
